Eeeew, Spider

Jason found this in our backyard. To the side of our house there's a little fenced off area that I'm guessing someone used as a garden. It's grown over now with a huge bush. Jason trims the grass there so it doesn't become a jungle. When he went to mow back there last Saturday this is what he found blocking his entry.

This just barely bigger than the actual size. It is freaky looking!! It's legs look like partially burned matches. Does anyone know what kind of spider this is?
